Ultrasound
Service Description
An ultrasound is a non-invasive medical imaging test that uses high-frequency sound waves to create images of the inside of the body. It helps healthcare providers evaluate organs, tissues, blood flow, and developing fetuses, providing valuable information about the body’s structure and function. Ultrasound is used to: 1. Diagnose conditions involving organs such as the liver, kidneys, gallbladder, thyroid, and heart 2. Detect abnormalities such as cysts, tumors, fluid collections, or blockages 3. Evaluate blood flow and circulation using Doppler ultrasound 4. Guide certain medical procedures, such as biopsies or injections During an ultrasound, a technician applies a special gel to the skin and moves a handheld device called a transducer over the area being examined. The transducer sends sound waves into the body and receives echoes that are converted into real-time images. The test is painless, safe, and usually takes between 15 to 60 minutes depending on the area being evaluated. The results are then interpreted by a healthcare professional to help diagnose and manage medical conditions.
